A warm, balmy evening filled with fun, engaging conversation and delicious Nigerian food brought the community together to explore and celebrate the common humanity expressed through virtues.

The exhibition was an uplifting, colourful showcase of positivity, expressed through light, colour and story…

  • It was also a fantastic opportunity for visitors to learn about the vision behind the Ishola Elewa Town Gardens project and to help raise funds towards completing the next stage of the development. New friendships were made, community ties strengthened and the power of shared values highlighted.

Each artwork offered a distinct interpretation of a virtue, creating a rhythm of contrast and harmony across the space with piece arranged to suggest the image of a rainbow. To demonstrate the impact of different light strength on each painting appearance, the lights were turned off, and I shone a torch onto the pictures, bringing the concept to life.

Through art, food, conversation and shared experience connect us all to our common humanity.

Artist Kristiana Williams Book Launch

October 2025

I had a great evening at the by invitation launch of contemporary artist Kristiana Williams’ book, The Fantastical Safari held at Waterstone’s, 130 High Street Kensington. Kristiana’s work is celebrated for its intricate collages, bold symbolic references and richly layered visual language all of which have long resonated with me.

During the event, I was able to share my admiration for the qualities I find most compelling in Kristiana’s practice: the historical and literary references woven through her imagery, the sense of joy and playfulness in the compositions, and the subtle yet powerful political undercurrents. Our conversation turned to environmental change, with a particular focus on Kristiana’s home country of Iceland. I reflected on my own experiences of the country, comparing my first visit with a recent one, and how shocked I was at the speed of the change and Kristiana discussed how she echoed these themes in Kristiana’s work.

A highlight of the evening was Kristiana writing a beautiful personal message to my daughter, Cerys, who received the book as a gift for her 18th birthday. This thoughtful gesture that made the occasion all the more memorable.
